Representatives of the Volga-Dnepr Group met with a delegation from the government of the Japanese city of Kitakyushu to discuss further actions within the framework of the implementation of the agreements reached upon signing the Memorandum of Understanding. The Memorandum was signed in 2020 between the Group and the Government of Kitakyushu City / Fukuoka Prefecture.

Thanks to the relaxation of restrictive measures in the region, Dmitry Vorontsov, Director of Volga-Dnepr Group for the Development of the Asia-Pacific Region, met with the mayor of Kitakyushu, Kenji Kitahashi, during which the parties discussed the current status of the implementation of the agreements and further steps in the framework of cooperation.

The Memorandum affects the activities of the parties aimed at developing the aviation cargo ecosystem of the city of Kitakyushu and the airport, which is built on a bulk island and provides a round-the-clock service for air and sea delivery of goods. Taking into account the presence of wide-body aircraft in the group's fleet - An-124-100 / 150, Boeing 747F and Boeing 777F - the airport management is considering the possibility of lengthening the runway up to 3000 meters for the development of cargo transportation in the region.

Dmitry Vorontsov, Director of Volga-Dnepr Group for the Development of the Asia-Pacific Region, commented: “In our group, we maintain cooperation with airports that are committed to the development of the cargo sector, share our vision, create favorable conditions for local freight agents and build uninterrupted supply chains for international manufacturers. We are honored to work with the Kitakyushu city government on the development of the airport's cargo component, and we are ready to share our knowledge and expertise. This joint effort will enable us to cover most of Japan and to include Fukuoka Prefecture in the regular route network, while also carrying out charter programs. ”

Volga-Dnepr Group has been present on the Japanese market for over 30 years. During this time, the company has carried out not only a large number of charter flights, but also built an effective network for regular flights.
