Swissport in Spain received ISO 45001:2018 certification from an independent accreditation body for nine airports with 12 business lines across the country.

Swissport has been operating in Spain since 2007. Across 15 airports, with a team of over 1,500 professionals, the company provides airlines with a comprehensive range of airport ground services, air cargo handling and executive aviation services. On 14 July 2023, Swissport Spain has received its ISO 45001:2018 certification from an independent accreditation body for nine airports with 12 business lines across the country.

Following several external audits, SGS International Certification Services Iberia, an independent third-party organization, awarded Swissport Spain ISO 45001:2018, Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. The certification, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), an independent, non-governmental, international body, specifies requirements and the application of occupational health and safety regulations, to provide safe and healthy working conditions and mitigate workplace risks. The audits confirmed that Swissport in Spain is fully compliant with health and safety systems and regulations.

“The safety of our teams and the passengers we serve on behalf of our airline customers, as well as the integrity of the cargo we handle are our priority in Spain and around the world,” said Jorge Garcia, Managing Director Swissport Spain. “The ISO certification confirms our full commitment to providing not only a safe, but also a positive work environment, based on trust, collaboration, safety, accountability and equity.”

In Spain, Swissport operates at 15 airports: Barcelona (BCN), Madrid (MAD), Reus (REU), Valencia (VLC), Alicante (ALC), Almeria (LEI), Murcia (RMU), Malaga (AGP), Lanzarote (ACE), Zaragoza (ZAZ), Huesca (HSK), Burgos (RGS), La Rioja (RJL), Salamanca (SLM) and Valladolid (VLL). In addition, the company manages five air cargo centers across the country with a total of more than 25,000 sqm of state-of-the-art warehousing space. The Swissport air cargo center at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport is certified by IATA’s CEIV Pharma and the cargo facility at Madrid–Barajas Airport is expected to be certified within the next few weeks.

Moreover, in September 2022 Swissport in Spain received Ethical Management certification, an affirmation of the company’s pursuit of the well-being of employees, integrating sustainability, inclusiveness, and profit.
