Polar Air Cargo starts operating two B747Fs on lease to DHL

Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings' subsidiary Polar Air Cargo has started operating two more freighters for DHL Express under an aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance (ACMI) agreement.

"The two aircraft, a B747-8(F) and a B747-400(F), will be operated in Polar Air Cargo Worldwide's express network under an ACMI arrangement for the benefit of DHL Express and Polar's other customers," said the company.

Polar Air Cargo now operates on wet-lease contracts for DHL and other clients a total of 12 Boeing 747 freighters, comprising of five B747-8(F)s and seven B747-400Fs, reports Swiss-based chi-aviation.

Parent Atlas Air also operates five B767-200(F)s and two B767-300(F)s on wet-lease to the global express mail and parcel delivery giant.
