The German ULD company Jettainer and the Indian carrier Jet Airways have concluded a five years contract for outsourced ULD cargo services. Jettainer, the world's leading ULD service provider, helps the second biggest Indian airline to augment their long haul flights with efficient under floor cargo solutions.

The co-operation with Jet Airways is a great opportunity for both sides and a gateway to Asia for Jettainer. We are certain that other airlines will monitor the success of this project closely, said Jettainer's managing director Casten Hernig. It is the first co-operation of Jettainer with an Asian airline. After a roll-in phase which started on February 2nd all operations are running smoothly and efficiently with Jettainer operators assisting the airline in day-to-day operations.

The deal is worth nearly two million Euro and includes the handling of 1279 ULDs. Many of which, 590 to be exact in numbers, are light weight containers of the AKE LW design. ULDs provided and managed by Jettainer will fly on Jet Airways routes to New Delhi, Mumbai, Brussels, London, Newark (USA), Singapore and Hong Kong.

The airline operates Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 777-300ER wide body jetliners on these services. With a mobile track and trace application, Jettainer offers highly precise controlling tools to the client. The airline is replacing a fair share of its old lower deck cargo containers through the deal. Due to the light weight of Jettainer's assets both the carrier and environment will benefit from lower fuel consumption.
