Changi Airport sees flat air freight volumes in June at 151,300 tonnes

SIngapore Changi Airport in June saw air freight shipments dip 2.2 per cent to 151,300 tonnes, with total cargo volume for the half year at 912,300 tonnes, up 0.2 per cent.

Flight movements, a total of 28,530 aircraft landings and take-offs were recorded during the month, a growth of 1.4 per cent year on year. In the first six months, aircraft movements totalled 169,890, one per cent lower than a year before, according to a release from airport authorities.

With regards to new services, Scoot has launched a six-weekly service to Osaka with a stop-over in Bangkok for three of the services and a stop-over in Kaohsiung for the remaining three.

In July, Malindo Air started a daily service to Ipoh, becoming the third airline to operate this route, along with Firefly and Tigerair.

Earlier in July Taiwan's EVA Air increased the frequency of its Taipei-Singapore service from seven to 11 times a week. The airport also strengthened its connectivity to Australia with the commencement of a new service to Perth at the end of June, operated by Qantas five times a week. (Source: Shipping Gazette)
