Volga-Dnepr Airlines suspends commercial flights on AN-124-100

Volga-Dnepr Airlines (Volga-Dnepr) informs about the temporary suspension of commercial cargo flights on An-124-100 (-150) aircraft pending investigation and identification of the causes of the aviation incident at Tolmachevo airport (Novosibirsk).

On November 13, 2020, shortly after takeoff, a non-localized destruction of the D-18T engine occurred, which led to the failure of the engine and some control systems. In this situation, flying the plane with full fuel tanks and a cargo with a total weight of 84 tons, the crew managed to prevent a disaster, return to the airport and land, rolling out of the runway, but at the same time holding the plane.

On the fact of the incident, a commission of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) was created, which included Volga-Dnepr specialists who are working to clarify the causes of the incident.

Volga-Dnepr Airlines expresses its gratitude to customers and partners for understanding the situation and doing everything possible to fulfill contractual obligations and resume safe commercial flights on An-124-100 (-150).
