Thun Tankers conduct naming ceremony

Thun Tankers is pleased to announce that they have completed the naming ceremony for two of their new product/chemical tankers Thun Lidkoping and Thun London at the shipyard AVIC Dingheng Ltd in China, Saturday 23rd of March.

The Erik Thun Group has a long history of building efficient high quality vessels. These vessels, which are the first two in a series of five new-buildings in the L-class, have been carefully tailor made to meet their clients’ high demands. Focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, new regulations and customers’ needs has been key in the development process.

“It is a historic day for our company with the naming of both Thun Lidkoping and Thun London on the same day,” says godmother Alice Brax who is a part of the third generation in the family.

The vessels are being built to the absolute latest design in close cooperation with Odely and the shipyard AVIC. The two vessels are intermediate tankers with a dwt of 18 650 tons and LOA 149.8 meters and are expected to start operating during the spring and summer of 2019. Upon delivery they will enter the Gothia Tanker Alliance network.

Thun Tankers is a part of Gothia Tanker Alliance, a leading European tanker network for coastal tanker owners, currently operating 23 intermediate tankers in sizes from 10-20,000 dwt and 17 coastal tankers in the size range 6-8,000 dwt. We are taking delivery of 3 small and 6 intermediate new-buildings in total during 2019-2021.
