Svitzer enters new market, Malaysia

Svitzer establishes a joint venture with SVR Marine Services in an effort to secure a footprint in Malaysia, a new market for Svitzer.

The joint venture with the Malaysian company, SVR Marine Services (M) Sdn Bhd, supports Svitzer's strategic objective of entering new markets and broadening its portfolio. Operating in Malaysia requires a local structure, and with the new joint venture, Svitzer is now ready to approach customers and participate in tenders. SVR Marine Services is a Malaysian company established in 2014 and helmed by industry players with solid experience in the marine services sector. The company includes agency services for harbor and terminal towage using world class tugs and equipment.

Malaysian market boasts an advanced LNG industry and expanding port operations. Our objective is to supply the Malaysian market with a new standard of towage under the Malaysian flag " providing ports world class towage. Two key priorities at Svitzer " safety and efficient operations " therefore provide for a valuable proposition to the customers in the Malaysian market, says Lise Demant, Managing Director for Svitzer Asia.

The entry of global player Svitzer in the Malaysia market marks the maturity and readiness of local marine-related industries including port operators and the oil & gas sector to opt for world-class towage solutions.
