Rhenus Logistics is proud to announce the opening of Riano 2, the newest addition to its logistics infrastructure in the Rome area. This expansion is a key milestone in the company’s strategy to extend its domestic network beyond its traditional stronghold in Northern Italy, offering broader coverage and faster service towards the South.

In a region where suitable warehouse space is notoriously scarce, Rhenus has made a bold move by launching Riano 2. This new facility not only reinforces the company’s presence in the capital but also enables a transition from partner-based operations to direct management, ensuring greater control, improved efficiency and enhanced service quality for customers, especially in Central and Southern Italy.

The expansion brings significant benefits to the Transport Related Warehousing (TRW) product line, offering increased capacity to better serve existing clients and onboard new ones. More importantly, Riano 2 strengthens Rhenus’ domestic distribution capabilities, enabling faster, more reliable deliveries and a more direct operational footprint in areas south of Rome. This investment is part of a broader strategy to position Italy as a key logistics hub in Southern Europe, supporting both national and international flows with robust infrastructure and tailored solutions.

Equipped with advanced machinery for e-commerce packaging, the new warehouse is ready to meet the demands of the digital retail sector. It offers a scalable solution for startups and growing companies looking for space and logistics support to launch or expand their online operations.

Riano 1 covers 42,072 square metres, with 39,505.61 square metres dedicated to TRW and 2,566.39 square metres to Home Delivery. It features a height under beam of 12 metres, 98 loading doors plus 3 ramps and a pallet capacity of 38,500 units.

Riano 2 adds over 5,600 square metres of space, also with a 12-metre height under beam, 59 loading doors plus 1 ramp and a pallet capacity of 3,000 units, expandable to 5,000.

“This expansion is a testament to our long-term vision for the Italian market,” said Guglielmo Davide Tassone, Managing Director of Rhenus Logistics in Italy. “With Riano 2, we are not only enhancing our logistics capabilities in the Rome area but also extending our domestic network beyond the North, giving us stronger coverage and operational reach towards Southern Italy. This move allows us to serve our customers more directly, more efficiently and with greater flexibility, including the fast-growing e-commerce sector.”

With Riano 2, Rhenus continues to invest in infrastructure that supports growth, flexibility and customer-centric solutions, solidifying its role as a key logistics partner in Southern Europe.
