RCL sees increased revenue & freight income in 2Q 2018

With higher liftings, Regional Container Lines (RCL) clinched an increase in revenue of THB 2,924 million in 2Q 2018, which translated to 2.8 per cent above the revenue for the same quarter last year, Similarly, the revenue increase was 2.4 per cent in comparison to the previous quarter. RCL had to bear a 31.7 per cent upswing in its bunker cost for 2Q 2018 on a year-on-year basis and it was 5.5 per cent higher than that of 1Q 2018 due to the continuous rise in this key cost factor, said a release.

The average freight rate for 2Q 2018 saw a marginal year-on-year improvement of 1.1 per cent, whilst it recorded a higher percentage increase of 5.3 per cent vis-à-vis the last quarter. As a result, freight income went up by a marginal 2.1 per cent vis-à-vis 2Q 2017 and was more or less the same as 1Q 2018, the release added.
