Simatech has launched a new service between Salalah and Berbera and Mogadishu. The first vessel, the 1150 TEUS M.V. Sima Pride, made the inaugural call in Salalah.

This recently launched fortnightly service will provide a reliable and safe connectivity for the growing Somali trade from Salalah. Salalah is already the main hub for Omani trade with Somalia and this new service to Berbera and Mogadishu will further boost the ongoing trade between the two countries which is presently estimated to be about USD 116 Million.

Mr. Abdi Hussain, a Somali trader, stated, We are happy to see Simatech commencing this service between Salalah and Berbera and Mogadishu, both of which are important trade centers for Somali trade. This service can allow bigger parcels of essential imports like vegetable oil, cement, foodstuff to be exported on a regular basis from exporters in Salalah and thereby provide growth opportunities for Omani business.

Mr. Ahmed Akaak, Acting CEO of Port of Salalah said, We are happy to see Simatech providing this new connectivity from Salalah. This is another initiative of the port to give the industries in Oman a competitive edge to cater to fast growing emerging markets. We hope that the Omani business community leverages this connectivity to develop and expand into the growing markets.
