Port of Riga welcomes largest container vessel in its history

The container ship MSC Martina V, the largest container ship ever to visit Riga, has arrived at the Port of Riga, informed the representatives of the Freeport of Riga Authority.

The vessel is 266 metres long and 37 metres wide. It has a maximum capacity of 4,533 TEUs. The vessel is operated by the Swiss-based Mediterranean Shipping Company, which controls about 19.7% of the world's container fleet.

According to the Freeport of Riga Authority, the vessel was first handled at the quays of R?gas Centr?lais Termin?ls Ltd. in the Port of Riga, but has now been transferred to Baltic Container Terminal Ltd., where loading operations are continuing.

From the Port of Riga, the container ship will leave on Wednesday for the Port of Le Havre in France.
