Petronas loads first cargo from floating LNG facility

Petronas' first floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, PFLNG SATU, has achieved a new milestone with the successful loading of its first cargo at the Kanowit gas field, offshore Miri, Sarawak on 1 April, 2017.

The first cargo was fully loaded onto the LNG carrier Seri Camellia which is expected to set sail for a South Asian market.

This accomplishment effectively demonstrates PETRONAS' proven technology and capability of adapting a conventionally land-based installation to a floating LNG facility, a game-changer in today's LNG business landscape. It is a testimony of our innovative solutions to meet the demands of our global players, said PETRONAS President and Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin.

Manned by 145 crew onboard, PFLNG SATU is designed for water-depths of between 70 metres and 200 metres and possesses a processing capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).

PFLNG SATU will complement PETRONAS' global LNG portfolio, making it a leader in the FLNG technology and enhancing its reputation as a preferred and reliable LNG supplier.
