NYK: First dual-fuel VLGC for Astomos named at KHI

On September 2nd, a Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) was named for Astomos Energy Co., Ltd., one of the world's leading Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) companies. The ceremony was held at the Sakaide Plant of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd.

At the ceremony, Mr. Toru Araki, Managing Director of Astomos Energy, named the ship "LUPINUS PLANET," and his wife cut the rope. From our company, Executive Officer Yuji Nishijima and others attended.

The vessel is MOL's first VLGC equipped with a dual-fuel engine that can also use LPG as fuel. (SOx) will be reduced by 85% or more, and carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) will be reduced by 15% or more.

They  will further strengthen the close relationship,  have cultivated over many years with Astomos Energy, and by promoting the development of an environmentally friendly fleet, we will contribute to the low-carbon supply chain and the realization of a sustainable society. Aim.
