Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced that on 20 October, a naming ceremony for a LNG carrier, jointly ordered by MOL and China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, was held at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co Ltd.

This vessel is the final vessel of the "Long-term fixed-term rental contract for four LNG carriers for the Yamal LNG Project in Russia" announced at the end of June 2017, and is derived from one of the stars that make up the Big Dipper. It was named "LNG MEGREZ".

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines has been operating 14 LNG carriers built in China for other projects, and LNG PHECDA will become the 15th LNG carrier built there to join our fleet. For the construction of the four newbuilding conventional LNG Carriers for the Yamal LNG Project, MOL assigned technical experts to Hudong to form a shipbuilding supervision team made up of approximately 40 members. For the first three vessels, MOL accomplished their construction either earlier or by the original schedule.

Going forward, they will work to contribute to the stable supply of LNG for the Yamal LNG Project through their safe LNG transportation service. In addition, they will continue to actively work on new projects while taking advantage of the relationships of trust with China COSCO Shipping and Hudong cultivated through this project and the know-how of international collaboration.
