Mawani launches Blue Ocean’s BOS Service at Jeddah Islamic Port
The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the addition of the new shipping service “BOS”, operated by BLUE OCEAN, to Jeddah Islamic Port. This step contributes to enhancing the competitiveness of the Kingdom’s ports, expanding the maritime service network, supporting national exports, and reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s position as a leading player in the ports and maritime sectors.
The new service strengthens connectivity between Jeddah Islamic Port and ports in China, calling at three major global hubs: Qingdao, Ningbo, and Nansha, with a capacity of up to 2,300 TEUs.
This initiative forms part of Mawani’s ongoing efforts to elevate the Kingdom’s ranking in global performance indicators and facilitate the movement of national exports. It aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to solidify Saudi Arabia’s position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
It is worth noting that Jeddah Islamic Port is the largest hub port in the region and the biggest on the Red Sea coast for transshipment and maritime trade. The port handles 65% of the Kingdom’s imported maritime trade and transshipment, spans an area of 12 square kilometers, and features 62 multi-purpose berths with a total handling capacity of 130 million tons.
