A long-term cooperation with Maersk, the global integrator of container logistics, enables both parties to jointly develop solutions that not only respond to the current logistics needs of the industry, but also to those of the future.
On 27th November, Syngenta and Maersk extended their partnership by signing a new contract for fourth-party logistics (4PL) concept. A 4PL logistics provider takes third-party logistics further by managing resources, technology, infrastructure and other logistics providers serving the client to design, build and provide customised supply chain solutions. The concept is part of Maersk’s Logistics & Services product offering and a key element of the strategy aimed at expanding its footprint in supply chain management solutions.

One of the foundations of the collaboration between Syngenta and Maersk is constant focus on sustainable logistics, in line with the ambition of both companies to reduce CO2 emissions throughout the supply chain. Taking the lead in eliminating fossil fuels in container shipping and supply chains, Maersk has set the goal of zero carbon emissions in its operations by 2050 – an ambition that corresponds with Syngenta’s aim to feed more people without harming the planet. Regular reporting on emissions and constant dialogue on sustainability issues has therefore been a key element of business performance discussions between the two companies.
