Kuwait Airways Receives ninth Boeing 777-300ER ‘Al Wafra’

Kuwait Airways received the ninth aircraft of ten Boeing B777-300ER, on Friday, 17 July 2017, at Kuwait International Airport, which is named 'Al Wafra' and in the presence of the Deputy CEO of ALAFCO, Adel Al- Banawan and Higher Management officials from both Kuwait Airways and ALAFCO. 

On the occasion of receiving the ninth aircraft, Mr. Ebrahim Al-Khuzam, CEO of Kuwait Airways stated that with this development, Kuwait Airways is now in possession of nine of the ten ordered B777-300ER aircraft and four aircraft have been sold and released to ALAFCO Company in a financing partnership. He extolled cooperation of the Company's management in fulfilling this partnership to be in favour of interest of both companies, indicating that it is the first cooperation of its kind between Kuwait Airways and ALAFCO.

Mr.  Adel Al- Banawan, Deputy CEO of ALAFCO reiterated that it is the first partnership of this magnitude with the Blue Bird, the national carrier of the State of Kuwait. 'Al Wafra' is one of four aircraft bought and leased to Kuwait Airways over the period of 12 years. This deal will have positive repercussions on the national economy because financing of the deal will be done through local banks which form a major pillar of Kuwait's economy. He also expressed his gratitude to Kuwait Airways for the co-operation and professionalism shown in the transaction, while looking towards the expansion of strategic partnership with Kuwait Airways, the pioneering airline in the region.

It is worth mentioning that Kuwait Airways signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase ten B777-300ER and 'Al Wafra' is the ninth aircraft which has been delivered, while the last aircraft will be received by the end of August 2017.
