Hong Kong's Kerry Logistics Network has been awarded a contract by Lakeland, the British homeware retailer that has contracted out its global freight forwarding needs, according to Shipping Gazette.

Kerry will assist with purchase order management and visibility solutions via the Virtual Buying Office (VBO), a web-platform designed to enhance efficiency and visibility along the supply chain.

Said Lakeland operation director Gary Marshall: "We are delighted to work with Kerry Logistics and look forward to their invaluable field expertise helping the next stage of growth for our multi-national business.".

Kerry Logistics' strong distribution network in China will play a key role in driving international growth for the retailer, which recently announced its expansion into the Australian market with the launch of 13 new locations.

Said UK Kerry sales chief Emma Rowlands: "Lakeland is renowned for high levels of customer service and innovation. We are delighted to support them with end-to-end logistics."

From humble beginnings in the heart of the Lake District, Lakeland now has 69 stores nationwide, a further 16 stores in the Middle East, three in India, 13 in Australia, and 2013 saw the Lakeland brand launch in Germany.
