Japan Airlines is implementing Honeywell's fuel-management service, to help lower fuel consumption and costs. The deployment of the "GoDirect Fuel Efficiency" software will equip the airline with the tools and data to monitor current fuel consumption and identify opportunities for fuel savings.

The GoDirect Fuel Efficiency software analyses data from 100 reports that integrates with existing airline systems through a user-friendly data interface. The solution offers fuel-savings recommendations, which airlines can deploy into existing or customised analytics reports and dashboards.

The technology provides recommendations that enable full compliance with the European Union emissions trading system legislation among many other software-based fuel-savings recommendations for each flight.

"Typically, fuel consumption accounts for as much as 20 to 40 per cent of an airline's operating costs, and existing users of our GoDirect Fuel Efficiency software have reported fuel savings of more than two per cent annually," said senior sales director Jason Wissink of connectivity services, Honeywell Aerospace.
