Icelandair has decided to increase its schedule to and from London Gatwick airport this autumn onwards up to 4 times weekly. Icelandair started flying twice weekly from Gatwick in October last year but is adding the third flight in May and fourth on September 13th.

The good reaction we have had for our Gatwick flights are very pleasing says Birkir Hólm Guðnason, CEO of Icelandair.

We fly twice daily from Heathrow, which is our main airport in London. Gatwick, however will provide us with further growth which is not available at Heathrow.

By increasing the frequency at Gatwick, we hope to enhance further growth to increase the number of holiday seekers to Iceland over the winter months. We are also excited about building up new markets for our connecting flights to destinations in USA and Canada.

The flights will operate from London Gatwick to Reykjavik, mid-day on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays making it ideal for city breaks from UK to Iceland.

Icelandair has also confirmed year round flights to Toronto starting in March 2013 with four flights per week. Toronto will become Icelandair's fifth year-round North American gateway along with New York, Boston, Denver and Seattle.

Icelandair˜s schedule for 2013 will be the largest in it˜s 76-year history. Icelandair flies from 4 gateways in the UK to Iceland with connecting service to New York, Boston, Seattle, Denver, Orlando, Washington DC, Toronto, Anchorage, Halifax and Minneapolis/St. Paul.
