Estonian state owned rail freight operator EVR Cargo handled 13 percent less rail freight in 2013, totalling 16 million tons.

Commenting the results, the company's CEO Ahto Altjõe said that although the decrease in freight volume is disappointing, current rail volumes are much higher than in 2009 when EVR Cargo handled 11 million tons of rail freight.

The peak year was also 2012 when the company handled more than 18 million tons of rail freight.
