Emirates Line and Wan Hai add IM2 service to Jeddah Islamic Port
The General Authority for Ports (Mawani) announced the addition of Emirates Line and Wan Hai's new IM2 shipping service to Jeddah Islamic Port. This service will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of Saudi ports, facilitating global trade, opening new business opportunities, and raising the operational efficiency of Jeddah Islamic Port.
The new shipping service connects Jeddah Islamic Port to three regional and international ports, including Mundra Port in India, Alexandria Port in Egypt, and Mersin Port in Turkey, with a capacity of up to 2,800 standard containers. This comes as part of Mawani's efforts to enhance the Kingdom's ranking in global performance indicators, supporting national exports, in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services, which aims to consolidate the Kingdom's position as a global logistics center and a hub connecting three continents.
It is worth noting that Jeddah Islamic Port includes 62 multi-purpose berths, a logistics services area for bonded and re-exported goods, a direct truck transport system to and from the port, in addition to a number of specialized stations and advanced equipment, including two container handling stations with a handling capacity of 7.5 million standard containers, two general cargo stations, two ship repair and maintenance docks, and a group of marine services berths. Its total capacity reaches 130 million tons.
