DHL Express Chile inaugurated a new headquarters and state-of-the-art distribution center, the company's most modern in Latin America. Deutsche Post DHL CEO, Frank Appel, and the Chilean Minister of Economy, Felix De Vicente, presided over the opening ceremony. They were joined by Germany's Ambassador to Chile, Hans-Henning Blomeyer-Bartenstein, the executive director of Enseña Chile, Tomás Recart, officers of the Federation of Chilean Industry (SOFOFA) and executives of DHL Express Chile.

Frank Appel said: Chile was the highest ranked Latin American country in DHL's Global Connectedness Index last year, and a significant factor in this ranking was the breadth of its international trade flows. This relatively high level of global integration, alongside its well documented commitment to economic freedom, reinforces our view that Chile offers many long-term opportunities for our customers. As the market leader for international time definite delivery in Latin America, we are continuously seeking to enhance our services in this region. The investment we are inaugurating today will further strengthen DHL's logistics capabilities in Chile and support the robust growth in international trade that we anticipate in this key market.

The complex in the Enea Industrial Park was designed to allow DHL Express to handle growing volume demands in Chile. It features infrastructure improvements such as automated sorting capacity to allow for greater productivity. The building also provides a better work environment with increased safety features and incorporates DHL's GoGreen strategy, providing green spaces inside and outside, as well as using natural light where possible inside the facility.

Customers will reap the benefits of the new facility because of its proximity to the Santiago International Airport " just five minutes away " and easier access to major roads will translate into later pickup times and earlier deliveries.

During his visit to Chile, Frank Appel is also visiting the Lo Aguirre center, where he is meeting with students of the Enseña Chile program, a local partner of the Teach for All global non-profit education organization that is supported by Deutsche Post DHL within the framework of its ˜Living Responsibility' agenda. Teach for All's mission is to promote educational opportunities and access to education for young people worldwide. DHL, which recently extended its partnership with Teach for All to 2015, provides financial support to the program and encourages its employees to get personally involved in this partnership in their respective countries. In Chile, the relationship with Enseña Chile includes mentoring programs, professional counseling services, and classroom activities.
