DACHSER acquired the remaining 50 percent of the shares in its Hungarian joint ventures “Liegl & DACHSER Szállítmányozási és Logisztikai Kft.” (transport and storage of industrial goods and food products) and “Liegl & DACHSER ASL Hungary Kft.” (air and sea freight).

In the course of the acquisition, the previous co-owner Engelbert Liegl handed over his responsibility as Regional Managing Director South East Europe (Road Logistics) to Roman Stoli?ný. The 54-year-old Slovakian was previously responsible for the operational development of the Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania country group at DACHSER. However, Engelbert Liegl will continue to help shape the development of the DACHSER Slovakia and DACHSER Romania joint ventures as a shareholder.

The Liegl & DACHSER joint venture, founded in 1999, initially focused on the transport and storage of consumer and industrial goods. In 2006, the Hungarian air and sea freight organization was added. Since 2008, Liegl & DACHSER has also been active in food logistics.

“Engelbert Liegl and his team have shown a great deal of entrepreneurial commitment and passion for logistics, and they have developed our Hungarian country organization into one of the local market leaders for the transport and storage of industrial goods and food products. And then there is the seamless connection to the intercontinental markets via the location at Budapest Airport,” says Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics at DACHSER. “As a central and dynamically growing goods hub in the heart of Europe, DACHSER Hungary is now a pillar of our European groupage network.”

DACHSER is active in Hungary with its European Logistics, Food Logistics, and Air & Sea Logistics business lines. The company employs 394 people at seven locations. The country organization’s revenue amounted to about EUR 120 million in 2021.
