The CMA CGM Group has announced that it took delivery of the 18,000-TEU capacity CMA CGM GEORG FORSTER in South Korea. It is the Group's second of six vessels of 18,000 TEUs capacity to be delivered, informed a release.

The vessel, 1,305 ft (398 m) long and 177 ft (54 m) wide, will join the vessels sailing the French Asia Line (FAL), one of the most emblematic lines of the CMA CGM Group. The Group's largest vessels sail this line. In a globalised economy, such mega vessels have the capacity to transport almost 200,000 tonnes of cargo between the world's leading markets: Europe, Middle East and Asia, the release emphasised.

The CMA CGM GEORG FORSTER is equipped with the latest environmental technologies: an engine of the latest generation, a twisted leading edge rudder with bulb, and an optimised hull design, which reduce CO2 emissions by 10 per cent compared to the previous vessel generation. With an estimated emission of 37g of CO2/km for each container, the vessel is one of the greenest goods transport means in the world, the release highlighted. Furthermore, in accordance with the CMA CGM Group's commitment, its environmental footprint adheres to 2025 energy efficiency regulations.

Sailing under the UK flag, the CMA CGM GEORG FORSTER started her first rotation on the day she was delivered. She will call the different ports of the FAL rotation in China, Malaysia, Egypt, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast up to Germany. The vessel will be christened in Hamburg on July 9, the release said.
