CEVA Logistics continues to expand its portfolio of sustainable transport solutions with the launch of a low carbon ocean freight service between France and Ivory Coast. The new service leverages marine biofuel and provides customers more sustainable maritime transport options for shipments to West Africa.

As a global logistics provider committed to sustainable logistics, CEVA has launched a new weekly Less Than Container Load (LCL) ocean freight service connecting Rouen, Marseille, Lyon and Abidjan. This solution directly addresses a dual challenge faced by supply chains: securing reliable, regular transport departures from France, while reducing the carbon footprint of shipments to Africa.

Thanks to CEVA Logistics’ significant investment in marine biofuels, the new LCL service between France and Ivory Coast achieves an 84 percent reduction in CO2 emissions compared to conventional ocean freight.

Designed with both performance and sustainability in mind, the decarbonized LCL service– available for all types of cargo– offers weekly departures and a 24-day transit time between Rouen, France and Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Launched in November 2024, CEVA FORPLANET is the company’s suite of sustainable logistics solutions that enable customers to reduce the environmental impact of their supply chains through low carbon transport options, circular economy practices and integrated emissions measurement and optimization tools. The solutions include modal shift strategies and the use of alternative fuels across ocean, air and ground transport.

The new low carbon LCL ocean freight service between France and Ivory Coast is part of the CEVA FORPLANET suite, offering customers more sustainable logistics solutions.

CEVA Logistics is deeply committed to environmental protection and reducing the impact of its operations. As part of its sustainability approach, CEVA offers clients a range of alternative fuel options, including marine biofuel for ocean freight, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and biofuels or electric vehicles for road transport. In 2024, CEVA avoided over 26,000 tons of CO2 emissions by using more than 10 million liters of sustainable marine and aviation fuels.
Paul Bernard, managing director for West Africa and Overseas Territories, CEVA Logistics, said: “CEVA’s new low carbon ocean freight service from France to Ivory Coast supports our core mission to continuously innovate and diversify our sustainable logistics offerings. CEVA’s ambition is to expand our capabilities to sustainably support our customers’ end-to-end supply chains. We are proud to include this new LCL route to Abidjan in our portfolio of low carbon solutions for West Africa, a key region in global maritime trade and transport.”
