APL Logistics has successfully launched an online sales channel for leading retailer Walmart in Mexico. The new solution, which comprises a sophisticated warehouse management system, integrates with Walmart's new online shopping site and enables same-day order fulfillment and next-day delivery.

APL Logistics' market-leading technology systems and its experience operating in Mexico have enabled a strong partnership with Walmart, said David Frentzel, APL Logistics' Vice President for Global Contract Logistics. APL Logistics is delighted to support Walmart in expanding and consolidating its leading ecommerce position in Mexico.

Through the partnership, APL Logistics provides all order management, planning, and fulfillment for Walmart's general merchandise category. APL Logistics also set up a fulfillment center with over 116,000 square feet (10,777 m2) of space. Using APL Logistics' eFullfillment warehouse management system that was integrated with Walmart's online store, eight different types of order and delivery EDI status updates were enabled.

Value-added services provided at the facility include receiving and managing inventory for approximately 20,000 sku's, product packaging for delivery and coordination with Walmart's last-mile carrier to meet delivery windows.

All online orders are fulfilled by a single, centrally-located distribution center. As a result, in-store employees no longer need to spend valuable time fielding phone calls, assembling customer orders or coordinating with transportation personnel on deliveries.
