Air China Cargo plans launch of Shanghai " Edmonton " Dallas Freighter Service
Air China Cargo is scheduled to launch its Shanghai " Edmonton " Dallas freighter service on 3rd September. The cargo airline will be deploying its brand new Boeing 777F freighter on this route, with service operating every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Edmonton will be Air China Cargo's first scheduled freighter destination in Canada. With the launch of this service, Air China Cargo will be the first and only Chinese cargo airline to offer direct cargo services between Shanghai and Edmonton.
Edmonton is Canada's fifth largest municipality, and is the capital of the state of Alberta. The city is also the northern economic centre of Alberta, a key hub for its oil and natural gas industry. It is also known as The Oil Capital of Canada. The Edmonton service will provide shippers with more choices and flexibility, providing an additional express solution for cargo shipments from Canada to Asia-Pacific. Cargo from Central Canada can reach the rest of Air China Cargo's global network through its Shanghai hub, effectively cutting down transit times. In addition, the route expands Air China Cargo's network in North America, connecting Alberta and Texas, two key oil-producing regions.
Air China Cargo Vice President Patrick Yu said This will be first freighter route between Mainland China and Alberta, and is a key step in connecting two economies with high growth momentum. The market demand for direct cargo services between Asia and Canada has been growing, and our brand new route will help build important trade links between the two regions.
As the only flag-bearing cargo airline in China, Air China Cargo currently has a fleet comprising of Boeing 747s, Boeing 777s and Boeing 757s. It recently received its seventh Boeing 777F freighter. With an additional Boeing 777-200F expected to be delivered within this year, this will bring the total number of aircraft in its fleet to 15. With the support of Air China, Air China Cargo serves 172 destinations globally, 26 of which are served by freighters. The cargo carrier also has 1285 truck services to supplement its freighter and passenger belly network, forming a ground-air route network for speedy delivery of shipments globally.
