ADPC welcomes first time visitor MV Adonia at Zayed Port

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) has welcomed another first time visitor at Zayed Port, the MV Adonia arrived in Abu Dhabi. The cruise ship is the sixth of ten scheduled maiden calls in the present cruise season which celebrates a record number of first-time cruise visitors to Abu Dhabi.

During an official welcome ceremony Captain Jaber Al Shehhi (left), ADPC's Western Region Harbor Master, congratulated Captain David Box (right) and his crew and handed over a commemorative plaque.

The MV Adonia, which belongs to the P&O Cruises fleet, has a capacity for 1,083 passengers and crew members. The ship is 180.45 meters long, weighs 30,277 gross tonnage (GT), has eight passenger decks and travels with a speed of 18 knots (33km/h).

Adonia's Asian Grand Adventure 2014 is the title of the ship's current world tour which kicked off on 7 January 2014 in Southampton and covers 44 ports in 27 countries. After its stop in Abu Dhabi, the MV Adonia will continue its journey via places such as Fujairah, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Athens and Lisbon, before returning to Southampton on 29 April.
